We might be seeing a bit more Asian American representation during this fall’s primetime television. Kal Penn (“Harold and Kumar,”House”) will be co-starring in the “Ex-Men” pilot, a single-camera CBS sitcom by Rob Greene of “How I Met Your Mother.” The comedy is about a twenty-something (played by Chris Smith of “Paranormal Activity 3”) who was ditched at the altar and moves into an apartment complex of older, divorced men. Penn plays a fellow resident named Gil caught having “the world’s worst affair” trying to convince his wife to take him back. Penn had recently been cast in ABC’s comedy pilot, “Prairie Dogs,” about office cubicle workers. However, the project wasn’t picked up to series. If “Ex-Men” is successful, it may diversify and freshen up CBS’ comedy line-up which currently includes the racially homogenous and stereotypical “2 Broke Girls” and the long-running and quickly staling “Two and a Half Men.”

Bonus: John Cho will be on NBC’s new show “Go On,” which stars Matthew Perry as an angry sportscaster who needs to attend grief counseling to keep his job. Cho will play Perry’s boss and closest friend, Stephen, who is described as an “ill-equipped, less-than-evolved male” struggling to provide support for Perry’s grief-coping mechanisms.
